Pfizer Internships – Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description:

This position maintains and repairs all bulk manufacturing, filling, packaging, inspection, and conveying systems and equipment as well as maintains and repairs facilities and Utilities equipment to ensure operation as specified and in compliance with cGMP requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility as part of a dedicated team bringing lifesaving penicillin treatments to our patients. This position will serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up).

Job Responsibilities:

• Required to read and understand drawings / blueprints, utilizing this knowledge for the installation / repair of new and existing equipment
• Aligns and replaces mechanical seals and impellers/propellers in pumps and mixers.
• Follow the weekly maintenance plan and alerts when there might be a risk of not complying with the schedule
• Generates Maintenance work order to report and coordinate repairs for task out of the scope of the Preventive Maintenance
• Develop solutions to routine problems following established Pfizer policies and procedures.
• Utilizes tools, equipment, ladders, lifts, etc., in safe manner per plant safety procedures. Maintains a clean and safe job-site at all times. Participates in safety training programs.
• Reports opportunities captured during Preventive Maintenance execution
• Provides recommendations for Preventive Maintenance task improvements

Job Requirements:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Deal with problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• High school diploma and / or general education on degree (GED). Manager will consider Licensed Journeyman Machine Repair,
• Licensed Journeyman Machine builder, Licensed Journeyman Machinist or License Journeyman Millwright
• College degree, computer skills, and documentation skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals,
• Write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
