• Input into the designing and developing of new and existing control systems (DCS, PLCs, ESD and APC systems).
• Provide assistance and direction to the ROH in terms of best practices with regards to instrumentation and control (design, maintenance, asset management, etc.) to ensure that Operations are able to meet production and SHE targets.
• Interaction with the Sasol Projects, Execution, Improvements and Transformation (P&E, I&T) teams to ensure successful execution of projects.
• Coaching/Supervision of EITs as per the Graduate Development Program (GDP).
• Pro-actively identify non-compliances on a project to ensure quality, cost and schedule requirements are adhered to.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of plant monitoring systems capable to proactively identify potential deviations and risks to production volumes, product quality and equipment integrity from process perspective in short and long terms.
• Contribute towards the development of the Control Engineering Function (e.g. Lessons learned, Specification development, training, etc.).
• Provide technical direction to several smaller projects.
• Development of business cases for projects.
• Identification of optimisation opportunities and capitalising of these opportunities.
• Manage and/or formulate and execute the design, engineering, development and modification of complex and / or specialised Instrumentation and Control Engineering Projects or Services (Typically Selected Tier 4 but includes Tier 5 and maintenance projects) in accordance with established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements.
• Ensure compliance to Hazardous area regulations and requirements with certifications.
• Ensure integrity of the Control Systems Networks across Sasolburg Operations (Networks, Cybersecurity Standards etc.).
• Keep abreast with Regulations, SABS standards and Sasol specifications & develop new standards / specifications when required
• Ensure adherence to Regulations, Standards and Sasol specifications
• Willing to do standby as and when required.
• Interpretation and understanding of data and business unit drivers for input into improvement plans.
• Manage the relationship with internal and external service providers applicable to function/discipline.
• Contribution to the Rolling Capital Plan (RCP) for SEO.
• Critical Control Infrastructure Support Including Cybersecurity.
• Maintenance and optimisation of APC Systems.
• Provide technical support to the Sasolburg Reginal Operating Hub (ROH) on instrumentation and control related issues.

Qualification & Experience:

• University Bachelor’s Degree BSc Eng. (Electronic/Computer/Chem) or B Eng. (Electronic/Computer/Chem)
