Job Description:

We’re looking for an ambitious and self-motivated tax analyst to join our direct tax team and develop their career with a Fair Tax Mark accredited business. This role would be ideal for someone with some corporate tax experience within industry or practice, or who has an accounting background but with a desire to specialise in corporate tax going forward. In this role you’ll report directly to the senior direct tax manager, but also work closely with your colleagues in the direct tax team as well as the wider finance teams within the Co-op. As a tax analyst, you’ll work in an important role with key inputs to all our corporate tax processes and compliance obligations.

Job Responsibilities:

• assist with periodic forecasting of future tax cashflow and tax charges
• work closely with a range of colleagues across the wider financial teams to develop your business knowledge and networks
• help make sure we continue to meet all our corporation tax reporting and compliance requirements, including group and subsidiary
• reporting and annual corporate tax returns, by managing a portfolio of companies and assisting with the Group and larger subsidiaries
• operate monthly internal controls and balance sheet reconciliations as required
• manage ad hoc tax projects and assignments as they arise

Job Requirements:

• good Excel skills and generally computer literacy
• either already started a career in corporate tax within industry or practice, but still to obtain CTA or an equivalent professional
• qualification; or alternatively, you’re similarly placed within a financial accounting role with a strong desire to specialise in corporate tax
• remained informed about legislative, technical and regulatory changes within the tax field
• knowledge of accounting systems and control environments within a tax/finance function
• demonstrable awareness of IAS12 and general tax accounting; a general awareness of other accounting standards would be helpful
