Job Description:
The successful candidate will initially be involved in assisting with IAS19 valuations and medical scheme work and will ultimately become responsible for his/her own medical scheme clients, usually as a qualified or nearly qualified actuary but also depending on his/her ability and career progress. The candidate will also become involved in other ad hoc projects as and when they are added to the team’s workflow.
Job Responsibilities:
- Post-Retirement Medical Aid Valuations (PRMA)
- New business.
- Check work done by the actuarial team.
- Actuarial and scheme consulting to medical schemes – opportunities exist to get involved in this space once sufficient level of expertise has been developed.
- Solutions availanle to manage PRMA liability obligation.
- Ensuring all administrative processes are followed (billing, invoices etc.)
- Scheme consulting.
- Adhoc technical projects.
- Manage a portfolio of clients.
Job Requirements:
- Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of MS Office, in particular, with Word, Excel ,Power BI as well as SQL.
- Knowledge of IAS19 accounting standard
- Currently studying towards a Fellowship qualification with the Actuarial Society of South Africa
Qualification & Experience:
- BSc Actuarial Science
- Matric
- Relevant experience in health care is preferable however, any actuarial experience, specifically DB pension valuations experience will count in the candidate’s favour.
