Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers and key functions in the business
  • Understanding business trends and target markets
  • Communicate effectively at all level
  • Sourcing and developing new merchandise, as well as reviewing existing merchandise, in order to ensure the product offering remains competitive
  • By fully understanding the customers’ needs, this person must be able to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices
  • Negotiate effectively
  • Think in terms of the “big picture” as well as consider specifics and detail
  • Strategically influencing product and assortment/range planning, based on historical and forecasted information
  • Being able to critically analyze and evaluate data in order to make strategic business decisions, which affect turnover and business growth
  • Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in sourcing from various sources and countries
  • A proven track record in buying or a similar related field
  • Experience in dealing with reputable brands and/or small domestic appliances would be preferable
  • Contributed to growth / profit through innovative and creative ideas
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable)
