County of Los Angeles Jobs – Carpenter Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures departmental policies and procedures are adhere to.
• Supervises and maintains work records.
• Lays out job estimates labor and material requirements.
• Determines work methods and types of materials required.
• As needed drives automotive equipment to and from work sites.
• Directs, supervises, and inspects the work of journey-level carpenters and sub-journey-level staff.
• Plans carpentry projects and coordinates activities with other crafts and operating units.
• Ensures code requirements and safety regulations and safe work practices are observed.
• Supervises the maintenance and inventory of tools and equipment.
• Orders and maintains a stock of materials and supplies.
• Advises management concerning specifications for carpentry work in construction and alteration projects.

Job Requirements:

• Physical Class III – Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
• Three years’ journey-level* experience in carpentry work on buildings.
