Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Sourcing Manager to join our Commercial function based in Milton Keynes.

You will drive the wider department to deliver great products at supermarket price, by fulfilling our Global Sourcing Strategy and successfully achieving our targets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain timely commercial awareness of developments within the supply base, gain understanding on market trend and proactively identify product opportunities
  • Responsible for the product development process from brief to selection with the supply base; prepare and attend buying trip, with clear follow up actions with all parties
  • Review quotation records and support price negotiations with suppliers to ensure margin objectives are met
  • Support the order management process from purchase order, sealing and approval process to shipment delivery, ensure critical path trackers are accurate and flagging potential risk
  • Establish strong communication with UK and Asia colleagues and suppliers
  • Update through the weekly progress management meetings providing clear visibility of sealing and handover dates
  • Have a thorough understanding of our operating procedures and be familiar with our systems and ways of working
  • Understand our business vision and goal; play a positive role in making Sainsbury’s Argos a great place to work
  • Implement all aspects of the department strategy to deliver all KPIs including shipment and sales participation targets; gain understanding on sales, margin performance and stock level analysis of the department
  • Responsible of the Periodic Shipment Report in the management of shipment position of the department
  • Deliver a robust supply base that fulfils our Global Sourcing Strategy and meets our Ethical and Technical standards across all sites; ensuring supplier performance reviews take place
  • Drive the sourcing process from supplier engagement through to supplier set up

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of buying systems and processes
  • Ability to represent the business externally at a high level
  • Numerate and comfortable with analysis and comparison with excellent Excel skills
  • Ability to run and interpret data recommending subsequent actions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • University degree
  • Held a commercial role in a retail environment
  • Commercial awareness and financial skills
