Job Description:

The Manager, Outside Counsel Strategy and Innovation will be responsible for leading activities and strategy related to outside counsel and vendor management in the Legal Department and Office of General Counsel (OGC). The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, organization and analytical skills and will have recent experience managing others.

Job Responsibilities:

• Help drive the implementation and adoption of innovative solutions related to outside counsel
• Lead strategic initiatives related to outside counsel
• Support and streamline outside counsel processes, policies and procedures in partnership with other legal groups
• Identify and drive efficiencies while effectively managing risks and unlocking opportunities
• Manage outside counsel strategy team, meetings, analytics and reporting
• Oversee outside counsel ebilling process and activities, including annual review meetings
• Help manage outside counsel relationships and policy exceptions
• Assist with other legal activities and projects as needed

Job Requirements:

• Graduate degree in a related field
• Experience managing others
• General knowledge of legal field and utility industry
• Previous experience in an in-house legal department or law firm
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to lead and build relationships at all levels within the organization
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment
• Experience with legal ebilling platform (Wolters Kluwer Passport and Collaboration Portal)
• Knowledge of Cognos Business Intelligence tool
