CSIR Jobs Pretoria – Cybersecurity Specialists

• Coach and mentor young cybersecurity specialists;
• Implement and review cybersecurity architecture and processes across multiple cybersecurity domains;
• Conduct technical research and development in the information and cyber security domain;
• Perform threat hunting, analytics and intelligence;
• Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver multiple projects and solve multiple information and cyber security challenges (e.g. assess near and long-term network security assessments, vulnerabilities and risks);
• Assess, evaluate, update diverse cyber security systems and products across multiple technology environments against vulnerabilities and threats;
• Support the design, development and/or piloting of emerging cybersecurity technologies;
• Prepare, review, and publish reports, cybersecurity advisories and articles in local and international forums;

Job Requirements:

• Ability to take ownership of own career and development;
• Cybersecurity certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH, Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Network Security+, Firewall Related Certifications, Certified Security Analyst (CSA), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) will be advantageous;
• Ability to stay current in own field;
• Ability to work well under pressure, decision-oriented and meet deadlines;
• Advanced knowledge of computer security, web security, infrastructure security, database security, wired and wireless network security, and applications security;
• Ability to plan, prioritise & time management;
• Oriented to customer service orientation and attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently in a team context;
• Ability to work across diverse information and cyber security domains;
• Ability to mentor and coach team members;
• Ability to solve challenging and complex technical security problems;
• Understanding of research and development processes;
• Knowledge of different cyber security frameworks such as NIST and/or ISO27001;
• Ability to innovate and create new solutions for current cyber security problems;
• Advanced knowledge and experience of security systems’ administration (i.e. firewalls, virtual private networks, proxies, intrusion detection and prevention systems and others);
• Good verbal and written communication;

Qualification & Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science/engineering or related fields with at least three years’ experience in the information and security domain;
