CSIR Jobs Mechanical Engineering – Principal Mechanical Engineer

• Report on test and evaluation results.
• Conduct and perform acceptance trials for South African National Defense Force (SANDF) systems and sub-systems;
• Provide input to system test and evaluation processes and specifications;
• Design and integrate equipment, systems, structures and installations;
• Analyse and capture User Requirement into applicable system documents;
• Provide concept and system designs to the required availability and acceptable cost of ownership;

Job Requirements:

• Have been involved in the creation of patent registrations of engineering ideas or processes;
• Proven track record of integrating and drives all linkages between different but related engineering disciplines;
• Proficient in the use of Engineering specific software eg: CADD (or CAD); FEA (Finite Element Analysis) / FEM (Finite Element Modelling);
• Have broad understanding of other engineering disciplines for integrated design/engineering solutions;
• Have proven track record of development of multiple technology packages;
• Proven ability to coordinate proposals for interdisciplinary research, development and implementation projects;
• Capability to plan and appropriately delegate;
• Proven ability to lead the conceptualization / development / integration / implementation of new, highly innovative or substantially improved, products, processes, systems, services, tools and other technologies;
• Proven track record of successful Project Management, People Management and Client Relationship Management;
• Evidence of providing the primary strategic technology leadership in a knowledge area.
• Proven involvement in the formulation of development and implementation strategies in collaboration with national level partners;
• Proven ability to apply your engineering knowledge at a post graduate level to engineering problems to provide engineering solutions;

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in applied engineering design and construction;
• A Master of Engineering degree in mechanical / electro mechanical / mechatronic engineering or related fields, with at least ten years’ relevant work experience in engineering development;
