An opportunity has just become available in our Buying Department for a resilient, innovative and resourceful Buyer who can add value to our Outdoor Footwear Team through the successful trending, sourcing and procurement of Mens Footwear merchandise for Cape Union Mart.
Job Responsibilities:
- Range execution in alignment with the business objectives
- Controlling sample stock
- Attend tradeshows and conferences to stay abreast of industry standards
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts
- Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers
- Overseeing the Product Quality and Fit
- Range preparation, coordination and presentation
- Effectively collaborating with the relevant stakeholders and departments
- General buying administrative functions
- Presenting range reviews
Job Requirements:
- Ability to understand and interpret trends
- The ability to adapt trends to our different target markets
- Solid organizing, planning, & time management skills
- A passion for keeping up to date with trends and a creative flair for fashion
- Strong trader mentality
- Proven negotiation skills
- Proven strategic thinking skills
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Able to build and maintain influential relationships at various levels and across business functions
- Ability to make sound decisions together with effective problem-solving skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Grade 12 certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification is required
- Experience working in a clothing retail environment is an important requirement
- 5 years of retail merchandise buying experience of footwear is essential
