The Flexible Space Performance Manager forms and drives the strategy for flexible space in both the supermarket and convenience estates. You’ll focus on utilising performance and customer insight to shape our short-term actions and long-term strategy, able to look at the numbers and tell a concise, compelling and engaging story. You’ll have the opportunity to lead project plans to implement strategic change across the Food & GM Commercial divisions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the measurement of flexible space performance to understand the sales, volume and profit driven by our space
  • Lead improvements to the method for space allocation across categories to maximise our key metrics, working with category planners & BU ops to devise and sign off methodologies
  • Provide regular SKU level reports to category teams to drive improvements in SKU choice on space and support category planners in prioritisation
  • Support on modelling to balance existing space vs new propositions that require secondary space to land in store
  • Work with the DACE team to continue to maintain and develop industry leading secondary space reporting that understands the incremental value associated with a product being on secondary space
  • Support on making cross category decisions by applying consistent methodologies (with finance support where applicable) and clearly communicating justifications for decisions

Job Requirements:

  • An analytical or quantitative degree ideally in Mathematics, Economics, Operational Research or Business related or relevant industry experience
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience of building and using complex models
  • Ability to synthetize and conclude from often conflicting data sources
  • Plans plan and delivers projects effectively
  • Can present complex data in engaging, clear and simple ways to varied (and non-technical) audiences, winning the hearts and minds of key stakeholders with complex findings and recommendations that impact their day to day workload
  • Experience of analysing data in a corporate environment with prior knowledge of retail or grocery markets desirable
  • Excellent Microsoft skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
