Job Description:

This position is located in the Management Directorate, Office of Human Capital and Training, Training and Career Development Division, Electronic Benefits Systems Training Branch. As an Immigration Services Officer (Training Instructor), you serve as an expert in training and development for USCIS ELIS case processing (and other systems/processes), provide training facilitation, curriculum development, coordination of the national training program, and work with management training needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical and evaluative work in analyzing proposed legislation as to its possible effect on the adjudication program and recommend changes where appropriate.
  • Act as an authority on the adjudication of USCIS benefits and ELIS case processing including those involving national security and egregious public safety concerns; functions as subject matter expert in more complex adjudications case type.
  • Serve as a Training Officer and subject matter expert in training and development requirements of functions and operations for USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS) case processing and eProcessing case management.
  • Provide training facilitation, curriculum development and overall coordination of the national training program and works with management to identify individual and broad based training needs.
  • Facilitate the professional development of all USCIS employees by identifying USCIS ELIS training events and opportunities, notifying employees of opportunities, and consulting with employees and their supervisors regarding individual development.

Job Requirements:

  • Political appointees may require OPM approval before on-boarding
  • Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure
  • Providing subject matter expertise in a wide variety of immigration law, regulations, policies, and procedures to varied audiences, particularly as it relates to immigration benefit adjudications;
  • Conducting courses, workshops and seminars covering a broad spectrum of subject material that includes areas of Immigration and Nationality law, policies and procedures.
  • You must pass a drug screening
