Job Description:

The incumbent must be an energetic, motivated, strongly disciplined individual, who is comfortable in a multiuser laboratory environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• The incumbent will also fulfill support duties to a Senior Technical Officer with regards to the gas supply system in the Catalysis Institute.
• Introduction of new students/interns/staff to selected instruments based on existing SOPs.
• Tasks will include basic maintenance of laboratory equipment and housekeeping duties.
• Perform duties, as deemed necessary by the Laboratory Manager, of routine technical services in the Catalysis Institute.
• Assist the Chief Technical Officer/Laboratory manager and Senior Technical Officers in the smooth operation of the Catalysis Institute’s laboratories.

Job Requirements:

• Familiarity with Safety, Health and Environmental procedures in a laboratory environment.
• A minimum one year’s exposure to a multiuser laboratory environment.
• Good laboratory practices, able to communicate in verbal and written form with a large user group.
• A minimum of a National Diploma (NDip) or equivalent in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Computer literacy (basic Microsft office).
