Job Description:

Are you a disability management professional looking for your next opportunity? Do you thrive in a high-volume work environment? For this temporary role, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join our case management team to help employees navigate through our disability program. You would be aiding in reviewing employee short-term disability (STD) benefit claim applications and facilitating safe and sustainable return to regular and modified duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate fitness for work within the Integrated Disability Management (IDM) program and identify and communicate restrictions and limitations, where applicable
  • Capture and assess medical and non-medical information for employee health events to determine if the request for a medical leave and / or modified duties is supported
  • Identify risks in association with Human Rights, Labor and Employee Relations, and Workers Compensation premium impacts
  • Exercise ethical and professional discernment in determining the appropriate collection, use and disclosure of personal health information, working closely with Suncor’s Privacy Officer and legal counsel
  • Actively seek and identify risks associated with employee health events
  • Educate and inform key partners on the requirements of the IDM program, including roles and responsibilities, expectations, and consequences
  • Determine eligibility for STD benefits at onset and if applicable, for the initial 30-day period of the claim
  • Develop short duration transitional plans to facilitate with employee’s return to work
  • Ensure detailed documentation of ongoing claim activities and IDM program metrics in the Health and Wellness software application

Qualification & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in human sciences, kinesiology, physiotherapy, nursing, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experience with Workers’ Compensation legislation, policies, and short and long-term disability plans
  • Two years of claims and / or disability management experience
  • Experience working in a large multifaceted organization in the oil and gas and / or mining sector
  • Certification in disability management
