Job Responsibilities:
- Liaising with internal stakeholders in order to identify the Business School’s research web page requirements, implementation and maintenance
- Providing inputs to the University’s Division for Research Development about the Business School’s research requirements and liaising to bring back specifically relevant knowledge and information
- Managing effective implementation of decisions from the Business School’s Head of Research and Research Committee
- Determining, with the School’s Head of Research, the research portal systems requirements to manage research processes, managing its correct implementation, and providing inputs for continual improvements
- Supporting academics, students and research centres in applying for research funding with inputs from the University’s Division for Research Development
- Supporting the Business School¿s Head of Research’s membership of institutional committees as required.
- Using and analysing available bibliometric data to advise on the School¿s research, supporting identification of appropriate publication avenues and other activities of the School
- Assisting with the processes for the PhD programme(s) where required
- Supporting the Business School’s Head of Research to align the research strategy and activities with accreditation requirements, and coordinating the development of the accreditation research report to ensure continued international accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA and others as necessary
- Managing and integrating all research-related administrative functions, including the preparation and control of research budgets and other research funds, record keeping and reporting, as well as the collection and distribution of appropriate information
- Identifying, prioritising, developing and arranging alternative interventions to address academics’ and students’ research developmental needs, e.g., lectures, workshops, and seminars
- Supporting the practices and assisting in the development of new Business School directives to ensure compliance with Stellenbosch University policies
Job Requirements:
- The ability to make decisions and work under pressure in uncertain circumstances and without clear directives
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, e.g., library sciences, economics, accounting, and management
- Excellent interpersonal skills: a combination of assertiveness and pragmatism
- The ability to relate to and support all administrative functions necessary to manage research and outputs at a top business school.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently and set own priorities
- Knowledge of bibliometric data and their use
- Experience and knowledge of and insight into research processes and research management
