Standard Bank Vacancies near me – Head

Website Standard Bank

Job Description:

  • We’re in the process of developing an innovative corporate banking solution that we hope will revolutionize the way businesses interact with us in the future. We have a strong team that has built out the platform over the past 12 months and we are now in the process of adding features as well as rolling out the product in different countries across Africa. As such, we’re looking for a Client Experience Lead to join our growing team as we establish and develop the product. We work in a fast-paced, agile environment and aim to be closer to a start-up than an in-house banking team and need someone who matches this style of working. We are looking for someone to lead our UX and UI design team as we grow from a small team to an established product design department stretching different products and feature teams. The successful candidate will be working within a world-class, multi-disciplinary team and will be heavily relied upon by senior stakeholders to guide and drive the client experience and business commercialization of the payment platform

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand that UX is more than just product. Every touch point, from our clients, marketing and sales to onboarding and support, are all part of the total experience we want to improve. We’re looking for designers to work with our engineers and product managers to make sure that a payment is delightful for the customers from start to finish.
  • Plan, think and design how users interact with our payment product – driven heavily by how our customers want to interact with our payment products.
  • Conduct experiments to analyze user behavior in our payment product and come up with a solution to improve their experience.
  • Keep up with the latest design trends, best practices, and improvements in user interactions designs.
  • Create mock ups and wireframes that help payment product managers design the user flow from start to end.
  • Be responsible for the overall user experience of the payment platform, across all features.
  • Consistently aim to improve the payment utility and usability and drive the strategic discussions about the future of the payment platform design.
  • Be a design visionary & evangelist – setting the standard for the rest of the team, inspire others and challenge everyone on the project to think more creatively, more innovatively, and with a more human-centred approach.
  • Organise and lead the payment design ensuring regular design meetings, catch-ups and feedback sessions.
  • Work closely with the BA, development and test leads to make sure work is estimated correctly and implemented properly, and potential errors and bugs are caught.
  • Attend governance meetings, report on the payment design progress and strategic objectives, present work to senior stakeholders and make sure everyone is bought in on the payment design strategy.
  • Document processes and design assets on our Confluence page to give maximum design visibility to colleagues outside the design team.
  • You’ll need to get your hands dirty too – we want you to work closely with the technology UX and UI Designers to review their designs, challenge quality and teach them how to improve their work.
  • You’ll need to have good experience creating user flows, site maps, information architecture, wireframes, and high-fidelity screens, and shouldn’t be afraid to do any of this yourself, if needed.
  • Hire new team members as and when required, and lead discussions about design team shape and structure.
  • Oversee the design system and UI kit, and make sure there is consistency across streams. Ensure that it is managed and maintained by the team, and the developers make use of it.
  • Have frequent interactions with other relevant teams – including marketing and branding, legal, content, and the global SB design team – to make sure your decisions are aligned with with objectives of the wider group.
  • Maintain a feedback loop with bank clients in countries across Africa, carrying out regular testing sessions to gather insights, and communicating these insights with the senior stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • We’re looking for someone who has a start-up mentality, who is excited to move fast, innovate and challenge assumptions.
  • The successful candidate will have a good balance of head-in-the-clouds and feet-on-the-ground design.
  • Someone who is focused on output and making sure the final developed screens live up to the hype.
  • Someone who approaches problems with a design-thinking approach, with a willingness to understand their users, test, iterate, and continually improve their designs.
  • Someone who is able to make design visible and be inclusive in processes, with a ‘one team’ mentality. We don’t like silo’d teams.
  • A strong knowledge and appreciation of the development process, and how design can augment good development.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary level qualification
  • We’re looking for an experienced designer with lots of relevant in-industry experience building actual products within a lean, agile environment. Ideally, you’ll have managed teams of UX and UI designers and have a strong track record of team leadership and DesignOps.
  • The candidate will have strong design thinking expertise, and will know how to apply the principles within an agile team as well as within workshops, and is able to evangelise design thinking within the rest of the team, run training sessions, etc.
  • The most important experience(s) you can share with us are those which demonstrate your capability to deliver on the responsibilities listed above. We want to see capability, not box-ticking exercises.
