Job Description:
SoCalGas is looking for a well-rounded and organized individual who has an aptitude for detail and has Construction/Planning and customer service experience for our Construction Department. With pay starting at $50.60/hr. up to $56.29/hr. over a two-year progression, we are offering the right candidate an opportunity, providing you with training to become a safe and efficient Field Planning Associate; skills that will prepare you for a career with SoCalGas. Current opening is at our location in Oxnard. This is a DOT position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepares pipeline construction bid packages.
- Works directly with customers and builders to discuss and/or plan the installation or alteration of services and/or meter set assembly work.
- Responsible for coordinating the planning process for commercial, industrial, and residential customers’ services and main extensions.
- Organizes, directs, and completes projects within allocated time periods and budgetary constraints to satisfy the customers and their requirements. Accountable and responsible for prioritizing and monitoring the progress, budget, accounting, and status of assigned projects. Develops and prepares accurate cost estimates including blanket work orders, work order authorizations, competitive bid/applicant installation projects, and collectible job contracts.
- Identifies the construction window including updates to the required start and end date fields in SAP/CPD, deliverables, and resource needs to complete the project.
- Plans main installation and replacement projects and related cathodic protection requirements.
- Performs duties to Company Gas Standards, guidelines, and established safety procedures.
- Verifies gas demand, pressure requirements, and pressure controls to be installed by customer.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to field crews while performing pipeline planning duties and associated functions.
- Guides customers through the planning process, anticipates the customer’s needs, and responds quickly and professionally to customers and SoCalGas colleagues.
- Negotiates acceptable meter locations. Sizes services and meters.
Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid California Driver License
- Must pass a background check
- Must have knowledge of Computers, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test. All incumbents are subject to participation in Company’s random drug testing program
- Must have the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Must pass a pre-qualification test examination: Advanced Mechanical test battery – Mapping/Planning
- Candidates must successfully complete formal training for the classification
Qualification & Experience:
- Must have experience, training, or education in any of the following fields: Drafting, Mapping, Architecture, Construction, or Engineering
- Must have two or more years of customer service experience building relationships, identifying needs, and resolving issues
- Must have previous planning experience for a Utility
