Santam Vacancies – Senior Java Developer

Job Description:

Santam’s Digital team has a position available for a Senior Java Developer, based in Bellville, Cape Town. The team provides software development, maintenance and support services to Santam’s Digital Services.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage the technical processes and the quality of technical outputs of a number of developers deployed in various agile project teams
• Ensure that application changes are taken through the production change control process and successfully deployed to production
• Implement appropriate software engineering techniques and processes within the Digital team
• Use and improve DevOps capabilities as appropriate
• Ensure that security patches are applied to the affected applications
• Act as a senior developer on one or more Java based development initiatives
• Manage the technical evolution of a number of Java based components and associated technical enablers and tools

Job Requirements:

• Familiar with the Atlassian and related software engineering toolsets (Jira, Confluence, GIT, Maven, bamboo etc.)
• Java/JEE/JSE, Java Web Services
• Debugging and troubleshooting
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced challenging environment
• Fully competent in use of developer’s tool kits
• 6+ years systems development experience
• Excellent communication skills and a team player
• Project driven and deadline dedicated individual
• OO analysis and design including Unit testing
• Relevant tertiary IT qualification or qualification through experience
