Job Description:

The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner, assumes responsibility for the co-ordination, provision and
establishment of quality, efficient care and medical surveillances to client employees, that leads to the
promotion, protection and restoration of the employee’s health within a safe working environment, under
administrative direction of the Unit Manager, Clinical coordinator, Regional Operations Manager and the
Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.

Job Responsibilities:

• Contain costs without compromising quality
• Comply to the Quality Management System
• Record keeping and reporting
• Ensure compliance to the OSH act No: 85 of 1993 and regulations
• Develop and maintain accurate up to date medical records, to track employee health/illness and provide the company with the data
• Support management in achieving their KPA`s related to the management of health of their employees and in compliance with the MHS act and OSH act
• Conduct hygiene inspections
• Prevent loss of stock and equipment by proper control, inventory keeping and execution of a maintenance plan
• Ensure the keeping of accurate statistics
• Update the asset register of client and Netcare Occupational Health
• Safe keeping and maintenance of all equipment
• Monitor and manage chronic cases and update the clinic chronic list
• Clinic checklist to be completed and signed off
• Investigate all negative incidents and adverse events

Job Requirements:

• Thorough knowledge of general / primary care nursing theory and practice
• Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the highly specialized field of the intensive care nursing

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma / B Tech Degree in General Nursing
• Diploma in Midwifery
• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a general nurse and Occupational Health Nurse specialist.
• Registered Audiometrist
• Certificate in Spirometry and Vision screening
• Dispensing qualification
• Basic life support would be preferable
• HIV/AIDs counselling would be preferable
• At least 2- 5 years’ experience in Occupational Health
• 2 years management experience
