Job Description:
The Immigration Specialist is a member of the HR Shared Services Global Mobility Operations Team. The position ensures compliance with United States immigration laws and regulations and is the first point of contact for all US immigration and I9 processes and questions from employees, business leaders and Human Resources Business Partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide immigration counsel, guidance and strategy on temporary and/or permanent work permits to various stakeholders including HR Business Partners, Talent Management groups, Talent Acquisition, business leaders and employees.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and external immigration counsel and external services providers to find optimal solutions to immigration issues to support Chevron’s business requirements.
- Manage initiation, extension and repatriation of US immigration activities in Chevron’s expatriate management system, Assignment Pro.
- Work closely with Export Control Compliance Group to comply with deemed export control regulatory requirements.
- Provide US Visa Assessment and guidance to the business to inform hiring and employee resourcing decisions.
- Manage immigration group shared email Outlook mailbox.
- Respond to and manage routine queries and immigration correspondence, engaging outside counsel as needed, flagging to Sr. Advisor when appropriate
- Prepare letters of invitation to the US.
- Prepare letters of verification for immigration services.
- Act as subject matter expert for the Form I-9 process.
- Manage the Form I-9 shared email Outlook mailbox, providing guidance to stakeholders that ensures compliance with Federal regulation and audit requests.
- Submit requests for access to ADP Form I-9 verification tool.
- Provide education on the process.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Ability to keep information organized and confidential
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a high-volume, team-oriented environment
- 1 year of Technical Administrative experience
- Verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking, customer service skills and interpersonal skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience with US immigration, global mobility, global human resources or a combination of the above
- Previous Experience Oil/Gas
- Workday experience
