Barclays Internship 2023 Opportunities – Privacy Manager

Job Description:

As a Barclays Privacy Manager you will be responsible for key regulatory requirements supporting Assurance activities. You will regularly manage the team’s queries mailbox and support on strategic projects as well as management of Information Commissioner assessments, i.e. BAU complaints and queries from the regulator.

Job Responsibilities:

• Fulfil duties as set out in the Data Privacy Compliance Target Operating Model, and in line with the team’s multi-disciplinary approach
• Guide the Businesses in line with the Data Privacy Standard
• Ensure that Data Privacy related incidents, breaches, and risk events are properly reported and recorded, including escalation to senior management
• Contribute to assurance, and reviews from the perspective of Data Privacy within the Businesses, such as verification checks or monitoring reviews
• Contribute to preparation of annual reports relating to Data Privacy for review at Board level
• Ensure Data Privacy is considered in new product approval and technology change processes
• Fulfil governance and reporting requirements internally within Compliance, as well as check/ challenge Business reporting, in relation to Data Privacy key risks and risk appetite
• Update training information and ensure that there are appropriate Data Privacy training and awareness programmes

Job Requirements:

• Excellent technical and regulatory knowledge of Data Privacy
• Experience of working in a role where managing and/ or overseeing Data Privacy risks was the primary responsibility
• Clear understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and privacy impact assessments
• Experience with verification checks and other assurance
• Professional Privacy Certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (e.g. CIPP/ E) or equivalent is preferred
