AECI Bursary – Floor Team Leader

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise and oversee the production of machine shop manufactured items
• Supervise and oversee the maintenance and refurbishment of specialised machines or sub-assemblies
• Supervise and oversee the assembly of specialised machines (e.g. after an explosion)
• Supervise and oversee the control of materials and stock required for the manufacture of such machines and assemblies
• Manage the workload and resources of the workshop to maximise productivity
• Control costs by managing materials and consumables and by minimising waste and rework
• Supervise the flow of work for both emergency requests and scheduled work
• Proactively engage in people management and development, selecting, assigning and leading people
• Systematically evaluate and lead efforts to ensure internal customer satisfaction
• Support continual business improvement and change management
• Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and  practices
• Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards

Qualification & Experience:

• Technical qualification N4 / S4 or equivalent
• 3 – 5 years machine shop experience in engineering
• 1 – 2 years supervisory experience will be an advantage
• Knowledge of the OHS Act and Explosive Act
• Knowledge of machine shops and related tasks, e.g. grinding, turning, milling and fitting
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Knowledge of SAP
